A-T Project (nonprofit)
Ataxia-telangiectasia (A-T): "a-tak-see-uh tee-lawn-jek-tay-zee-uh"
A rare progressive neuro-immune disorder that becomes evident during the preschool years in children who carry two copies of the A-T gene. A-T causes relentless progressive deterioration of balance and coordination, as well as serious immune problems, including a high rate of cancer in both children with A-T and their mothers.

The A-T Project supports research into the development of a model of disease management, or plan of care, for A-T, along the lines of those developed for diabetes, PKU, epilepsy, and many other metabolic disorders. Specifically, the A-T Project supports research towards finding a treatment or treatments that will prevent, stop or reverse the relentless progression of the disease.
