- As usual, Saturday was an excavation day. While

the morning glare made it difficult to see until 9A,

the bull dozer pushed dirt from all over the site to

the mound at the gate; the street-level mound

barely fit two dump trucks and the resident

orange backhoe, which looked like it was about to

tip backwards down into the site. In addition, work

continued on the Military street level. (1:35 min.)

Busy day with work all over the site -- building

west and south retaining walls, excavating and

building Military street level, excavating at the

northeast gate. All hands and machines were on

deck. (1:43 min)

- Today was a usual excavation day with the

parade of dump trucks across the lower front of

the screen, right to left, and into the northeast

entrance. New to the routine was the 11:30A

arrival of two red trucks to work on the Military

street-level worksite, replaced at 12:30P by a

series of cement trucks. (1:44 min)

- From the Boss

You will be seeing large forms being moved by

the crane starting today, these are one sided wall

forms called gang forms and starting tomorrow

we should begin placing 60 linear feet of wall a

day. If the weather cooperates the trucking of dirt

should be winding down next week as we near

completion of the bulk excavation

- The major visual work today was excavating the

site at the gate, which started at the usual

9:30A, and working on the far north side of the

site, at Military street-level (left screen), which

also included excavating with a backhoe and

dump truck and moving supplies with a mobile

crane. At noon, we stopped to bid a fond adieu to

the blue fork lift, front and center screen. Four

cement trucks arrived after the usual quitting

time of 3P. (2:55 min)

- From the Boss - However, by far the most

exciting construction news was e-meeting the

senior site supervisor, who solved many of our

construction mysteries.

concrete in a footing with the concrete bucket.

• 02 Apr 2014_ S2 is another crew installing

bentonite waterproofing, a natural product that

expands when wet to fill cracks and gaps in

concrete walls, it’s a product that’s been around a

long time and does work well.

- Although it was difficult to see the scurried work

this morning, the first 2.5 hours were spent

preparing for the usual dump truck schedule with

the first wave at 9:30A. Cement trucks joined at

11:45A, and filled the crane cement funnel, while

the backhoe and dump trucks kept moving and

moving out the last remaining street-level site

inside the retaining walls. Supplies were delivered

and work continued on the retaining walls. (2:00

Despite the morning glare (and a new webcam

setup) most of the interesting viewing happen at

the far north side of the site -- and just out of

webcam range. The backhoes danced around the

site most of the day, and the first of about a half

dozen cement trucks arrived at 1P. Nothing

dramatic, nothing different. But hey, the video is

only 1:14 min.
