☆ Video - Now, THAT’S a Dump Day
- Ten of seven, the onslaught began. At least 20
dump trucks descended on the site, with six to
seven on site, three queued facing east on
Military, and the rest queued facing west on
Military. Of course the car traffic on Military was
managed down to a single, intermittent lane. Even
with the bull dozer and backhoe both loading,
there was a frenetic pace for just over forty five
minutes with over forty distinct dump trucks. By
1P, there was a striking hole at the northwest
corner, where the backhoe was digging -- down.
The 135th and last dump truck left the site at 2P,
beating the Saturday, 23 November, 2013 record
of 100 trucks. Upstaged by the dump truck
drama, the crew worked on the south retaining
wall, inserting more piping in new holes more than
30 feet below the first set. The crew also worked
on the planking north retaining and continued until
3P. (2:24 min)

The day began with all the machine tidying the
site. Work on digging and building the retaining
walls was next. The horizontal hole poking
machine was back on site and working on the
south retaining wall; it was making a new row of
holes about twenty feet below the original row.
There were only two bursts of dump trucking, one
at 9:30A and a smaller burst at 1P. January
ended with more a whimper

Today was a repeat of yesterday. The backhoe
and bull dozer were both digging as the sun rose
-- digging down. Dump truck caravans arrived at
9:30A, 11:45A and 2:45P. A few crew worked
after dark moving supplies and the fussing around
the site.

-Slow start on a snowy site. The bull dozer cleared
the snow at 7:45A and by 8A the backhoe was
digging down. The first dump truck flurry was at
9:30A, with both the backhoe and dozer loading
trucks. Additional dump truck flurries blew in at
11:45A and 2P, with intermittent digging and
waiting in between flurries. (1:28 min)

Today was almost a duplicate of yesterday with
flurries of dump trucks at 8:30A, 12N, and 2P.

- A set of headlights was on site at 6A. Just after
7A, dawn found the backhoe and bull dozer at
work. The first dump truck did not arrive until
9:30A, but a flurry of trucks followed, with two
additional flurries at 11:30A and 2P. In between
flurries was visual inactivity. The day ended with
the crew working late on the north retaining wall.
