- The backhoe started the day at 7A, working on

the gate ramp, preparing for the flow of dump

trucks, the first of which arrived at 9:30A.

However, there were only a few trucks before the

first, brief, pre-noon thunderstorm stopped all site

work -- and stopped it for the day. In addition,

there was no retaining wall work today. We

included today’s video not for the work-watching

but for the weather-watching. (1:52 min)

The big equipment was dormant again today. The

crew and smaller equipment worked on details of

the north retaining wall. Work started at 8A and

was finished by 1:30P

- The big backhoe finally got back to work after

being dormant through a week’s worth of bad

weather. While the backhoe cleared the snow

from the site, the crew, forklift, and baby

backhoe continued work on the north retaining

wall. The backhoe helped dig further down at the

northwest corner, and then joined the bull dozer in

piling dirt along the Connecticut Ave. side, and all

were finished by 1:30P (2:06 min)

Slog Day Redux. As newly-arrived, baby dozer

plowed snow from the entrance gate and ramp,

we noticed the regular-sized bull dozer was gone

from the site. The rest of the day was a duplicate

of yesterday.

- President’s Day National Holiday

- Slog was the word for the day. The site manager

arrived at 7A; at 8A a half dozen crew arrived and

started slogging through the snow covered site,

checking machines and supplies. The baby

backhoe dug deep in the southwest corner and

the forklift slogged supplies around the site.

Everyone one and every machine was slow and,

well, sloggy.
