The large, dramatic movements of the
first six months of excavation make the
current construction activity look slow and
tedious. The ant colony analogy is
impossible to avoid; interesting for only a
short while and invisible from a distance.
That means we will have to find more
accurate ways to blog the building
business.

- The day started at 7A with nine dump trucks
queued for two blocks on Connecticut Ave., with
several more around the corner on Military and on
site. The resident backhoe filled about fifty dump
trucks loads from the site, as it moved the last
vestige of the entrance ramp/hill, leaving two
backhoes stranded from the site. (1:06 min)

Another good morning to watch the crew work on
the foundation. A queue of cement trucks joined
the work just before noon, and at 1P it's easy to
see the cement delivered to a wall in the center
of the site. (1:31min)

- Thanks to early cloudy skies and break in the
foliage, this time-lapse video is one of the best so
far for observing the crew building the basement
of the site just below center screen. Just above
center screen and just behind the new foliage, the
resident backhoe dug away the very hill he sat on,
and just below the baby backhoe filled the crane
bucket with gravel. (Sorry for the cat-quake at
9:30A.) (1:34 min)

- The yellow Deere excavator worked on the
gravel pile at the gate. The resident orange
backhoe replaced the Deere as king of the hill.
There were queues of cement trucks and queues
of dump trucks, some taking dirt and some
leaving gravel. However, this time the gravel was
dumped from the gate down the side of the hill.
The rain came at noon, the yellow slickers came
out, and work continued on the basement
foundation and pillars. (1:23 min)
