- Video - Replacing the Ramp
- By 7:30A about a half dozen crew had straggled
down an orange ladder into the site pit and spent
the day working on all four retaining walls. They
also spread a bright green “carpet” around the
perimeter of the site pit. The first half of the day
both backhoes helped dig down deeper at the
walls, and in the afternoon the big backhoe
reconstructed an earthen ramp from the Military
Rd gate into the site. (1:21 min)

Like yesterday, crew dawdling but no heavy
machines.

The crew arrived on time to survey the condition
of the soggy site. The forklift moved a few
supplies. The horizontal hole poker worked on the
east wall, then the west wall. The crew worked on
all four retaining walls, but must have decided the
site was only suited for mud wrestling because
visually there was not much productivity today.

Another rain out. About 9A, a black pickup parked
just inside the gate and a few crew climbed down
into the site and fussed about in the rain, but by
9:45A the crew and pickup were gone,
abandoning the site for the rest of the soggy day.

The morning started with the backhoe digging
down at the Military gate and removing the
driveway. All the cars and pickups had been
removed from the site, and the machines were
left marooned in the new site pit. The little
backhoe helped the crew with the retaining wall
where the driveway used to be. The backhoe
continued to dig out the site pit and pile dirt for
trucking. After 2P when the heavy machines
stopped, the crew kept working on the gate
(back left) retaining wall and south (far right)
retaining wall. (1:35 min)

Productive work was rained out -- and there was a
practical reminder of why. At about 10:45A, a flat
bed, supply truck got stuck in the mud just off
center of the site and had to wait until 12:15P for
a large tow truck, parked at the gate, to wench
the supply truck backwards out of the site.
